For everybody who lacks access to adequate healthcare and health education,

SHARE is working with local volunteers in underdeveloped countries in Asia and Africa to stop preventable deaths and promote the wellbeing of those in difficult circumstances.

Using a community based approach emphasizing the importance of mutual learning and cooperation, SHARE hopes to create a society in which all people have access to fundamental healthcare, and are able to learn how to improve their own health as well as the health of others in their community.

Vision

To create a society where all people are entitled to live with a complete physical, mental, and social well-being.

Mission

1.To support people in difficult circumstances to improve their health status and become self-reliant.

2.To also ask Japanese society what we can do to narrow the gap between haves and have-nots, and to create a fairer world.

Our Core Values and Approaches

Health for all ! *SHARE strives to create a society in which everybody has access to primary health care in the sense stipulated by Alma-Ata Declaration in 1978. Thus, the organization focuses on health projects, both overseas and in Japan, that provide assistance and education in the hope of establishing a long-term system at the local levels to prevent common diseases and promote people's health.

【*Listening to Those in Need: Problem Solving from a Local Standpoint】
SHARE has tried from the start to understand health problems from a local perspective. Focusing first and foremost on locals' needs, SHARE's members work within the community to identify the best way to tackle prevailing health problems.

【*Achieving Long-Term Stability: Building Self-Reliance】
In order to establish a community in which effective, long-term health care is possible, SHARE's programs foster a sense of self-reliance and confidence. These projects are designed not only to educate locals regarding health issues, but also to help them utilize their knowledge and apply it to various health-related situations in their community.

【*Community Participation - Locals are the Agents of Change】
SHARE encourages local members to take part not only in the project itself, but also in its planning, implementation, and evaluation. SHARE's goal is to create projects in which locals can participate directly, empowering them to take the initiative to make changes within their community.

【*Human Resource Development - People Are the Keys to a Healthy Community】
An important component of proper health care is the training and education of community human resources such as health volunteers.
From our start we were influenced by the late Dr. Wakatsuki in Saku Central Hospital, the founder of rural health system in post-war Japan and David Werner, pioneer health activist and educator in our understanding and approaches to PHC.
